I can't seem to get my head around exactly how I can write a whole story from a short scene or line THAT"S the problem I got nothing you said not to re write the story but rather write one of a story like it but in a different situation , time or location?

 

Not sure I understand your question.

If you want to re-write a film and change the situation, time, or location, go for it. That should work well.

This is, by far, one of the easiest themes that has come along. Take the last two KAWs. Not everyone wants to embrace darkness, so, that could have proved difficult. Not everyone can tell a story in under 1,000 words, so, again, issues.

Jaws II - Yeah, well, they're 18 in the new version...ya' got a bunch of cool kids on an island...then stranded on a floating mess of broken boats, gonna' get killed by a shark. You telling me one of those guys doesn't pull the "C'mon babe, if we don't do it now, we may never get a chance. I don't wanna' die a virgin" line?

The Lord of the Cock-Rings - Is there anyone in recent film history whose more in need of a blowjob than Samwise Gamgee?

Schindler's List - Tough subject matter, would make a very gritty story about what some might do to get a pass.

Maze Runner, Jurassic World, Avengers, Xmen, Planet of the Apes, Divergent, The Hobbit, Taken 3, Night at the Museum, Spider-Man 2...all recent movies....................rewrite the story a bit, make it better, make it sexier....................

Just a suggestion for pars: try to find a movie that has something personal that you can connect with.

Two examples, in my own case, which I can't use as some people could easily work out who the writer was. "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" - filming took place near my uni, Stirling, and the extras were students. I would have signed up but I had something else organised that weekend. However, it would have made a great and funny story about being in one of the funniest movies ever made. "The Bourne Identity" - now what on earth could I have in common with that film? Well, he decides to hide in a friend's farm and it happens to be in Burgundy. The camera pans over the map, eastwards over the town of Decize and the final frame stops over the spot where my house is situated. Potential story about a coachload of fans visiting the village where I live.

It doesn't take a lot to work out a story with a connection to a movie. Don't give up hope.

 

Sound advice, Hector. I never thought of the location of a movie having personal meaning. I could write a non-entry on the 1985 movie "Witness", since a lot of it was filmed within a thirty minute drive of my home.

If you were thinking of films set near your University, I'd have trouble choosing just one. Wikipedia has a whole page of them.

There's always Lake Vyrnwy where the classic British war film "TheDambusters" was filmed. We used to visit there a lot as dad was friends with the vicar.

 

Sorry, but Stirling is not in Oxfordshire nor is it in Wales. It is in central Scotland.

 

I know that. Those are films I'd have trouble choosing between as they're all set near my University. This is for when the theme is "films set near your university".

They're also all filmed specifically in Oxford, not just Oxfordshire. Oxford is a ridiculously photogenic place.

*SIGH* Thanks a lot guys there was no reason to insult me, maybe I ought to bow out just under general principle, feelings hurt now. This is the hardest theme I've seen to date hell all the others were easy to me it might have something to do with the fact that I am so odd, strange and weird. Anyway I will still attempt and probably get insulted again just really having a really hard time with this harder than any of the previous.

 

Being odd, strange and weird isn't a bad thing. It means you write things that other people don't think about.Nobody is asking you to write the script for a blockbuster. Nobody is even asking you to write a porn story. If the worst comes to the worst you can even write about how you watched "Deep Throat" and then choked your blow-up doll to death.
