Folks I m startin this thread where everybody may speack about every day issues, worries, ask questions n give answers. It is seriously of nothing or casually of serious matters thread. Cause there are things that are not that importand to start a thread, or are of a minor interest. And there are residents on board, that are too sesitive of improper or unauthorized questions rised on wrong threads. Feel free n comfy. As a starter I wonder do you ppl make home made canned foods, such as beens tomatoes, pepper, meat. My wify makes them a lot as lot as we can not consume. Mostly it is mashrooms, tomatoes, or cucambers. It is so good to open those cons in winter, .

Look folks I see in Amer movies that many of you use a public laundry. Is it that popular and why, Why dont you folks buy your own one, We in Russia imagine no family without wash machine, even bachalors have one, When my daughter went to the university in enother city we bought her new one, which she had to move three times when she changed her accomodation, and when she finished her study she sold it. Try folks to make me understand but I doubt. It takes so much time to go to use a public laundry. While you simply drop it in at home sitch it and mind your other business.

We can, but mostly vegetables. Tomatoes, pickles, green beans, etc. We've done salsa and jams and jellies, but never really liked the results. Oh, and we love to can fish, like albacore and salmon. Wife is the driving force behind canning. I prefer fermenting (sauerkraut, kim chee, etc.) and smoking meat and cheeses. Going to try curing meat (Mmmm, pastrami) soon.

Lets talk of Medicine or hospitals, How much does it cost you I mean insurance. In Russia medical insurance is free though quality of free medical treatment is doubtful, but still we have you may have breake a bone, or have an apendix, get poisoned and get a free treatment. Though we are used to make sure that every thing d go O K and give cash to a doctor. It depends on case of treatment. In my instance I can say that two years ago when I falled and dislocated my colar bone I paid $130 to a doc, cause I chosed the one I wanted to operate me, and i payed $40 to anesthetist to make sure I ll come out right. Though I didnt have to do it I felt myself obliged, I friend of mine was beaten bad and he had lobotomia operation in a regional hospital and he didnt pay a penny, and everything want allright, he was operated twice. I can talk about it for hours, although I m not happy how are things in Russian medicine, but it is still better than to pay a $300 bill for visit to a doc in oder to get a prescription of flue, or anything else, I think it is too much. For axemple workin with an angle grinder some obstacle got into my eye I went to the local hospital at night time and a nurse on duty helped me out, she took it out of my eye, I payed her $15, cause she saved me plenty of time, I d ve lost next day.

 

There are an ugly things in our hospitals that I would better tell you not today, lets wait till tomorrow.

It was, and remains, a REWARD and part compensation to the working ppl of UK for the wars, deaths, industrial injuries, miserable living conditions, etc imposed on them by the Capitalist criminals and their running dogs over centuries until 1948 ACE.

Evidently, I still have not figured out how to post and reply on this site. Oh, well, I will endeavor to do better. As far as medical care goes, the quality of treatment is almost always doubtful. Higher cost does not always equal better care. It usually comes down to the individual doc. The benefit of universal care is the ease of patients seeking treatment. I don't care how bad the doc is, usually any care is better than no care, which is the result of people not being ablest afford care. Better to have them seen by a moderately competent doc than no doc at all.

 

The US is proof enough that high cost care is not quality care. One of the reasons we pay so much and get so little is that if a person cannot afford regular preventive care, such as diabetes and high blood pressure management, we wait until the complications of these problems become critical.

We would rather pay for a surgical amputation and disability in a nursing home, than the expense of keeping a person healthy enough to work.
